Forlorn Hope Withdraw From Warhorns Festival 2022

Forlorn Hope will no longer be playing this year’s Warhorns Festival in Yorkshire. The band released this statement on social media -

“We are immensely sorry to announce that we have had to withdraw from Warhorns Festival 2022.

Due to entirely unforeseen personal reasons, our stand-in drummer is no longer able to play this show. These reasons are not ours to disclose, but we entirely understand and support their decision.

Unfortunately, finding another stand-in was not possible, so we have had to postpone our return to the stage for the time being.

We can only apologise for any disappointment caused, and would like to thank Glyn and the Warhorns team for the opportunity and for their understanding.

We will be taking a step back to regroup and resume our search for a permanent drummer. Rest assured, this is only a delay; once our ranks are once again full, we will return to the fray.”

DANNY KELLY LEAVES FORLORN HOPE

Drummer and founder member of Forlorn Hope, Danny Kelly, has announced that he will be leaving the band with immediate effect.

Danny released this statement on the band’s social media channels:

“Unfortunately, I have decided to bring my time in Forlorn Hope to a close. It wasn't an easy decision but it was the best for everyone. I don't believe I can give the level of commitment the band needs to push on, and that would be unfair on the rest of the band if I stayed. I've loved the time in the band, all the gigs, recordings and traveling. I won't be quitting drums but I'll be taking some time away from it, unlike Forlorn Hope who I know won't miss a step and push on even further. I'm sure you'll still see me about at Forlorn Hope gigs from time to time. I may be leaving but I won't stop supporting them. Thank you to everyone who came to the gigs and made them some of the best I've ever been a part of.

- Danny Kelly”

The remaining members of Forlorn Hope released their own statement at the same time:

“While we fully understand and support Danny’s decision, it will be very hard for the rest of us to see him go. Way back in 2017 when we were still mucking about playing covers, it was Danny who suggested that we try doing something original. Forlorn Hope may never have even got off the ground if it hadn’t been for Danny.

From Day 1, Danny has been an absolute cornerstone of the band. We would all like to thank him for his years of hard work, exceptional musicianship, the countless miles he drove to get us to gigs, and for being a true friend. It won’t be the same without you, mate, and we wish you the best of luck in this new chapter of your life.

We’d like to take this opportunity to reassure you that Forlorn Hope will not be going anywhere. We will be advertising for a new drummer in due course, and we’re already looking forward to coming through this transitional period and embarking upon the next chapter of our story.

- Chris, Alex, Jade & John”

NEW SINGLE ‘REDCOAT’ OUT TODAY

“so powerful it borders on epic”

“It’s a testament to the band’s huge amount of talent that the song is able to take us through a complex and often deeply controversial history”

“Redcoat is not only the best song released by Forlorn Hope in their career as a heavy metal band, but I would go so far as to say that it is one of the best heavy metal songs that I have ever listened to in my life”

- The Sci-Fi and Fantasy Reviewer

‘Redcoat’ the new standalone single from Forlorn Hope is out today.

This new release tells the story of the British soldier in the 18th and 19th centuries; an epic story of warfare told through the medium of Forlorn Hope’s trademark, hook-filled power metal.

Redcoat is now available on all major digital platforms.

NEW SINGLE ‘REDCOAT’ COMING 25/02/2022

Forlorn Hope have revealed the artwork for their forthcoming standalone single ‘Redcoat’ and announced that the single will be released on 25/02/22 with pre-orders opening on 14/01/22.

The band released this statement on social media:

“‘‘Redcoat’ is the story of the British soldier in the 18th & 19th centuries. This standalone single will take you on an epic journey through history, from the great power struggles of the European monarchies, through the Age of Revolution, to the carving out of the largest empire the world has ever seen. Narratively, it is our most ambitious project yet.

History lovers will be pleased to hear that this release will also be accompanied by a companion audiohistory; a one-hour exploration of redcoats’ experiences of battle, from Blenheim to Rorke’s Drift, through the words of the men who were there.

As ever, our artwork is by the exceptionally talented Mitchell Nolte and we hope you’ll agree that he really has outdone himself this time.

We’ll be sharing details of our merch bundles and our pre-order raffle in the next few days, ahead of pre-orders opening on Friday, and over the coming weeks we’ll be releasing previews, some epic history content, and more besides. We are so excited to finally share this release with you after being hit by so many delays last year.”

New release pushed back to 2022

Forlorn Hope have announced that their next release, the standalone single 'Redcoat', will now be released in February 2022. The band published this statement on social media:

"As you may remember, our forthcoming standalone single 'Redcoat' was originally due for release this autumn. Sadly, due to delays in the production of the audiohistory and merch designs, it has not been possible for us to keep to this original release window.

We are committed to delivering the best possible final product to you, and having put so much work into making this new release as good as it can be, we do not want to rush it out at a time when it might pass under a lot of people's radar.

We have therefore taken the decision to push the release of 'Redcoat' back to February next year. While we know some of you will be disappointed by this news, we are confident that this is the right decision and that when February finally comes around you will have a release that was well worth the wait.

The final release will include a whole new 'Redcoat' merch range, including perhaps our most lavish bundle yet, a shiny new lyric video from the talented Andy Pilkington at Very Metal Art, and a whole load of the historical supporting content you love.

In the meantime, we will not be sitting idle. We will shortly have news of a brand spanking new merch item that will be available to pre-order very soon, and we will be putting out some 'Redcoat'-related historical content over the winter months.

If you want to make a contribution to help us make 'Redcoat' as good as it can be, you can leave us a tip at forlornhope.uk (just scroll down to the bottom of any page on the site) or make a purchase from our official webstore.

Thank you all so much for your ongoing support

PS - we hope you like this sneak peak of our latest logo variant, that will feature on the 'Redcoat' single cover and merch range."

Forlorn Hope announce new single, ‘Redcoat’, due for release this Autumn

Forlorn Hope have announced that their next release, standalone single ‘Redcoat’, will be released this autumn. The band released this statement on social media -

“We are delighted to announce the details of the next chapter in the Forlorn Hope discography.

Following on from the success of ‘To the Bitter End’, this Autumn will see the release of our second standalone single, ‘Redcoat’; the story of the British soldier in the 18th and 19th centuries.

From Badajoz to Balaklava, Cawnpore to Culloden, Ramillies to Rorke’s Drift, ‘Redcoat’ will take you on a journey through the many lives of these ordinary men who fought and died on every continent except Antarctica during these two bloodsoaked centuries, while attempting to address the colossal, complex and controversial legacy that they left behind.

‘Redcoat’ is arguably our most ambitious song to date; distilling nearly 200 years of history into a five minute song was a massive challenge, and represented an entirely new approach to history for us, but we are confident that it ranks alongside our best work.

Once again we have teamed up with the fantastic Mitchell Nolte to create the cover for this single. The artwork is finished and we are pleased to say that Mitchell has outdone himself. We will reveal the cover in due course.

As with our last standalone single, we will be releasing a detailed audiohistory to accompany ‘Redcoat’ that will allow you to dive deeper into the real stories behind the song.

This release will also include our most lavish merch bundle to date, for those of you eager to expand your Forlorn Hope collections.

Right now, we are in the midst of graphic design work, putting together our merch designs and getting ready to start recording the audiohistory. There is a lot of work still to do before we have a full release ready to launch, but we will have plenty of updates for you over the coming weeks and hopefully soon a definitive release date.

As with any new release, this will be an expensive undertaking that is likely to stretch our limited resources to their limit. If you’d like to help us make ‘Redcoat’ happen, please make a purchase through our official webstore, or use the “Leave a tip” button at the bottom of any page on our website to make a donation to the cause.

Keep watching this space for future updates.”
